Responsibilities

1.
Manages Pyxis inventory by performing accurate drug selection, loading, stock rotation and expiration date entry of medications in the Pyxis machines
2.
Ensures appropriate management of controlled substances from receipt to delivery per established department policies/procedures and government regulations
3.
Ensures removal of expired/damaged products from the floors in a timely fashion
4.
Assists pharmacists in providing timely pharmacy services including but not limited to drug delivery, resolution of Pyxis problems and refills of Pyxis machines
5.
Performs fills and exchanges of patient specific unit-dose medications
6.
Prepares and fills all floor stock including code trays and kits
7.
Performs controlled substance inventory
8.
Maintains refrigerator temperature logs per departmental and regulatory requirements
9.
Performs billing/charging duties as required.
10.
Performs medication room inspections according to department policies/procedures
11.
Accurately packages medications using Talyst packager.
12.
Demonstrates flexibility in working rotating shifts as assigned
13.
Accurately prepares medications in unit of use containers, ensuring correct labeling of medications and maintaining appropriate documentation
14.
Communicates effectively with nursing and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal pharmacy services and to uphold the values of the pharmacy department by creating a positive working relationship
15.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly
16.
Performs purchasing duties in compliance with 340B requirements and exercise fiscal responsibility
17.
Engage in sterile compounding of intravenous medications
18.
Knowledgeable in aseptic techniques and USP797 requirements
19.
Assist in maintaining a clean and compliant environment within the IV suite by performing daily quality assurance measures such as temperature, humidity and pressure monitoring, cleaning IV suite before and at the end of the shift and removing trash from the IV suite at the end of shift
20.
Restock the IV suite appropriately
21.
Demonstrates collaborative approach in ensuring adequate inventory of medications and supplies in order to provide seamless pharmacy services
22.
Participates in the departmental initiatives as required

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

1.High school graduate or equivalent.
2.Pharmacy Technician state registration (CT license)
3.National pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) required.
