Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.RequirementsMail Clerk Copy and Mail Services Georgetown UniversityJob OverviewThe Main Clerk has duties that include but are not limited to:Greets customers in a courteous and cordial manner to ensure a positive welcoming experiencePerforms timely and accurate processing of student and departmental mailOperates Mail Services vehicles, including large box truck to pick up mail from the United States Postal Service (USPS) when necessary, as well as Accountable Mail requiring signature, according time schedules and rules of safetyReceives, scans, sorts and delivers incoming mail and packages from the USPS and all external carriers, and maintains the chain of custodyUtilizes in depth knowledge of package tracking software and locker systems with integrated technology to facilitate sorting and delivery of mail and packagesDelivers all mail and packages to university departments and student locker banks in accordance with instructions regarding assigned routes.Maintains cleanliness of all Mail Services vehiclesPerforms other mail and package related duties as may be required to accomplish the department's missionWork InteractionsReporting directly to the Mailroom Supervisor, the Mail Clerk works professionally with other employees in the university, and has daily interactions with Georgetown University faculty, staff, and students and outside contractors.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalencyAt least 1 year of experience in a medium to large mailroom preference for a university environmentAn in-depth knowledge of USPS procedures, third-party carrier procedures, and hazardous mail protocolProficiency with computers, including word processing programs, spreadsheets, and emailProficiency with entering, transcribing, and maintaining information in written and/or electronic form.Demonstrable accuracy and attention to detail in verbal, written, and electronic communicationProficiency with mobile phones and/or other mobile barcode scanning technologyA valid driver s licenseWillingness and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation medical card to operate vehicles over 10,000 pounds, even if the medical card is not required for the position s specific responsibilities on the date of hireWillingness and availability to work over time when neededPhysical Environment Duties require exertion involving lifting, carrying, prolonged standing, walking, pushing, bending, and reaching; and may involve the handling of heavy containers and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds. Therefore, the physical ability to efficiently perform the position s duties with or without reasonable accommodation is required.Work Mode: On Campus.
