General Summary:
Responsible for generating the radiation dose distributions and calculations under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist. Also responsible for chart checks, calibrations, and brachytherapy implants and all other medical physics related activities.
Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates the ability to perform dosimetry, performs dose calculations for the accurate delivery of the prescribed dose. Documents all pertinent information in the patient's record, verifies mathematical accuracy of all calculations utilizing a system established by the medical physicist and assists in intracavitary and interstitial sealed source procedures and in the subsequent manual and/or computer calculation of the dose distributions of these procedures.
2. Demonstrates the ability to support medical physicist, assists in the application of specific methods of dosimetry including ion chamber, TLD film, or other means to special clinical problems as directed by the medical physicist. Detects and reports treatment planning equipment malfunctions to medical physicist.
3. Coordinates and/or assists in treatment simulations and tumor localization, assists in the planning and fabrication of compensating devices, custom shields, and other beam modifying devices and assists therapists in the implementation of the treatment plan.
4. Demonstrates the ability to ensure accurate patient charges, works with Radiation Therapists and front office staff to correct patient bills, maintains knowledge of billing guidelines.
5. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Medical Dosimetry
- Credential(s): Certified Medical Dosimetrist
- Experience: Required: 1 year in radiation physics
Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:- Education:

- Experience: Preferred:3 years in radiation physics.
