Job Details

The Senior Events & Marketing Manager plans, develops, organizes, and implements community events. In addition, this position markets the city's programs and services to a variety of audiences and develops destination marketing campaigns to bring more visitors to the city and capitalize on the opportunity for them to visit Littleton stores, restaurants and leisure activities.

The city launched the Visit Littleton campaign in 2023 which includes a visitor website separate from the government website. Due to voter approval of a Lodgers Tax with a portion of the proceeds dedicated to tourism, the city has a substantial budget to market this site. The successful candidate will have knowledge of marketing, advertising, and website content management.

The city creates, manages, and executes more than 10 special events per year. These include the city's signature event, the Littleton Twilight Criterium, as well as the Candlelight Walk and Tree Lighting, four Little Jam concerts, three Meet, Greet & Eat with city council events, the annual Boards and Commissions Dinner, and the Mayor's State of the City. Other unanticipated events may occur such as ribbon cuttings, park dedications, press conferences, etc.

Starting pay range $76,171 - $84,189 per year

This full-time position is exempt per FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position and has the option to work a hybrid schedule with some days teleworking and some days working in person at the office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and manages marketing initiatives using all the city's platforms including social and traditional media and cable television.
  • Develops and manages tourism campaigns and uses data to measure success.
  • Develops and manages branding campaigns and works with hoteliers, businesses, and others to attract travelers and events to Littleton.
  • Independently plans, produces, and executes events, and continuously seeks opportunities for improvement.
  • Participates in the Visit Denver membership program.
  • Manages the special events and marketing budgets, and creates financial reports.
  • Oversees the design and creation of promotional and marketing materials.
  • Leads the monthly, multi-department event prep and review meetings.
  • Writes Requests for Proposals (RFPS) and grants.
  • Seeks partnership and sponsorship opportunities with other agencies in both the private and non-profit sectors.
  • Monitors trends to implement or revise current practices, prepares reports and statistical analysis.
  • Assists in developing strategies and communications plans for the city, ensuring consistent use of the city's brand and image.
  • Utilizes software to monitor and analyze event visitor demographics.
  • Performs other similar duties as assigned.
  • May serve as an Emergency Worker.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, tourism management, hospitality or related field; and
  • Five (5) years of work experience in marketing and/or event management; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle records check.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of special event coordination.
  • Knowledge of event management software and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of government finance reports and budget creation.
  • Ability to communicate to residents, businesses and visitors through creative messaging and delivery.
  • Advanced knowledge and abilities involving the use of digital marketing and other branding techniques.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to network and build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization, business partners, and the public.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

The majority of the essential duties/activities for the position are performed in a standard indoor office environment. Some outdoor work and travel include exposure to adverse weather conditions. Essential duties include lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 30 pounds with or without assistance.
