**Full time permanent** **Hours of Work:** 36.5 per week **Reference number:** WMCA00323 **Salary:** 32,268- SP37,024 per annum per annum + exclusive benefits **Closes:** 2021-07-18T11:59:00 **Location:** 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD The Public Service Reform Directorate leads the Combined Authoritys work to create a fairer, greener, healthier West Midlands. A key element of this is working with local authorities and other public agencies to develop better public services and help the region to recover from the coronavirus pandemic in the years ahead.

This role blends research, policy and delivery, working with the wider team on a range of projects and programmes including designing out homelessness, early intervention and prevention, crime and community safety, and making sure extra help is available to those most affected by the pandemic.

* Support the Head of Public Service Reform and Prevention in developing and articulating an evidence base for developing more preventative approaches to public services in the West Midlands

* Work with local authorities and public agencies to identify and develop projects and programmes that deliver better outcomes for West Midlands people

* Identify and support work taking place in the sphere of early intervention and prevention which are collaborative and systemic

* Support the delivery of Community Recovery activities detailed in Levelling up the West Midlands

* Work with colleagues leading the Homelessness Taskforce on efforts to design out homelessness and transform public services for those with multiple and complex needs

* Collaborate on work to tackle health inequalities in the region, widening access to services and developing programmes to support healthy lifestyles

**About you**

Were looking for someone who has a clear commitment to creating a fairer, greener, healthier West Midlands with examples of how you have put this commitment into action. Someone with the following:

* Minimum Level 3 qualification with evidence of ongoing professional development and a commitment to undertake further training and development

* Good understanding of concepts such as public service reform, prevention and early intervention, systems thinking and social innovation

* Experience of researching, analysing or assessing complex issues and developing policies, projects and programmes in response

* Excellent written skills, with the ability to accurately summarise and convey complex information including experience of writing reports and preparing briefings in a policy environment

* Political and commercial awareness, with the ability to exercise discretion, judgement and confidentiality

* Ability to work with politicians and key stakeholders at every level

* Awareness of the financial structure of the Authority and the implications of decisions on the delivery of value for money for taxpayers
