Lead Electrical Engineers

Responsibilities:

  • Engages with engineering teams and client on significant technical issues that arise and supports or leads in developing resolution.
  • Plans and conducts independent electrical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Performs studies, options analysis, and scope development across all areas of electrical engineering.
  • Provides oversight of specifications and procurements of complex electrical equipment and/or systems.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
  • Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.
  • Develops conceptual designs for electrical engineering for project areas having specialized or unique requirements.
  • Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria and performance data.
  • Performs checking or preparation of design documentation where warranted by high complexity.
  • Supports electrical engineering planning and performance analysis, status and reporting.
  • Mentors less-experienced team members and supports in their development.
  • May lead cross functional teams in resolving complex issues.
  • Supports in preparation of AHJ rulings, evaluations, equivalencies, and interpretations, database development of NEC/NRTL findings, and related training development/delivery.
  • Provides oversight of NRTL subcontract, NEC inspection process, procedure, and inspectors, and Electrical Safety program, process, and procedures.
  • Provides reviews of NRTL submittals, supplier CoCs, and engineering design supporting AHJ approvals.
  • Engages with client AHJ and Electrical Safety representative, and subcontract NEC inspectors, and Electrical Safety SME.
  • This position may require periodic travel to the Richland, Washington project office via business trips.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 10+ years of electrical design experience working knowledge with ETAP and other industry wide electrical system design tools, such as CAD 2D and cable designing and routing software.
  • U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) Registration required.
  • Extensive knowledge and application of NFPA codes and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
  • Extensive knowledge on electrical systems, schematics, and electrical equipment layouts.
  • Previous hands-on or extensive working knowledge with special electrical engineering tasks, assignments, and studies.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical technological developments, conduct research and present papers.
  • Five years supervisory experience and proven leadership & personnel skills.
  • Hands on Microsoft office programs, VISIO, and other computer programs.
  • Excellent oral & written communications skills.
  • Must be able to complete a preemployment drug screen and background check
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access
