The Maintenance & Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining and overseeing restaurant buildings and equipment, supporting new store construction, remodels, and small projects for Legal Sea Foods, Smith & Wollensky and Strega Italiano (collectively PPX Hospitality Brands). Duties include working independently and with service providers, to meet safety regulations building codes and safety standards, maintaining equipment and facilities, and coordinating renovations and updates with the Maintenance & Facilities Manager. Works directly with the Maintenance & Facilities Manager to assure the building and its equipment is operating at full capacity. Provides 24/7 availability to operations management.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes the planning and management of small facilities repair and maintenance for all PPX locations.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of necessary repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, equipment

and work projects.

  • Assures all electrical, refrigeration, and minor/major maintenance project work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Works closely with other departments such as Operations, Culinary, IT, Food Safety, and Beverage to ensure all needs are provided within budget parameters.
  • Performs and maintains preventive maintenance programs/schedules for all major equipment and storage systems taking into consideration the useful lifespan of equipment and replacement timelines.
  • Educates Managers regarding preventive care, repairs, and maintenance within their building.
  • Ensures food safety procedures are adhered to when repairing, replacing, installing and applying preventive maintenance to food processing equipment and while working in the processing area.
  • Follows and ensures compliance with all GMP, Food Safety and Safety practices, policies and requirements.
  • Provides direction to outside contractors for completion of assigned projects.
  • Manages vendor relationships in a timely, professional, and cost-effective manner.
  • Assists as needed to ensures that proper permits and regulations are adhered to and complied with.
  • Facilitates a safe working environment through inspection of various areas for safety hazards and observing team member safe work habits. Works with the Risk/Safety department to ensure that all OSHA requirements are adhered to and complied with.
  • Trouble shoots equipment over the phone with restaurant management before placing service calls.
  • Monitors and facilitates resolution of construction projects self-performed.
  • Assists with project closeout and punch list completion.
  • Works with the Board of Health inspectors, Fire Marshals, Building Inspectors, Sewer Inspectors if issues surround facilities.
  • Researches and provides opportunities to save on capital expenditures.

Qualifications

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Technically proficient in trouble shooting, equipment repair, record keeping and budget administration.
  • Strong computer and technology skills with proficiency in MS Office. Service Channel a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills in multi-tasking, detail orientation and working effectively and independently.
  • Uses independent judgement, common sense and personal initiatives to drive results.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Prior facility, maintenance & construction experience.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & TRAINING: .

  • 5 years restaurant, facilities, maintenance, and construction experience within restaurant industry.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of maintenance and construction process and techniques; permitting, budgeting, kitchen equipment, mechanical / electrical / refrigeration systems, and restaurant operations.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

The work environment is fast-paced, dynamic, results-oriented, innovative, and values responsibility and accountability.

Work will be performed in the Quality Control Center and restaurant locations. Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift. Must have a good sense of balance, be able to lift, bend, kneel, stoop, and wipe. Must be able to frequently lift items weighing up to 75 pounds. Must be able to interact verbally and listen attentively to co-workers, managers, and supervisors.
