Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will oversee general upkeep of the facility and all operational equipment by performing routine preventative maintenance tasks, various special projects and improvements, and general repairs to the building and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain operational equipment
    • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
    • Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
    • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools.
    • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
    • Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
    • Maintain car wash and ensure operational equipment is functional to meet daily tender goal.
  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance
    • Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
    • Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
    • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
    • Assists in performing scheduled maintenance and "as needed" inspection and preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to maintain operability of the tools and equipment. (forklift, air compressors, hydraulic pumps, buck loader)
  • Perform minor building maintenance
    • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
    • Perform general cleaning duties of buildings or properties.
    • Performs minor building maintenance such as painting, welding (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.) to provide operable and efficient facilities for Department personnel.
    • Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
  • Perform janitorial work
    • Performs Janitorial cleaning of buildings (trash, restrooms) and yard maintenance such as weed abatement. Distribute water and restroom supplies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Drive both automatic and stick shift vehicles
  • Basic user experience in Microsoft Office required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constant changing priorities with enthusiasm


Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D
  • 4 years of experience in facilities maintenance
  • Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions
