IT Operations Manager

Baskervill is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary design firm with offices throughout the country and in Gdansk, Poland. Our Richmond office is currently looking for an experienced IT Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day activities of the IT department. This includes providing technical support, ensuring the reliability and availability of systems, and maintaining system security. The IT Operations Manager will also work in close collaboration with other departments and teams to ensure that the IT infrastructure is able to meet the changing needs of the business. The ideal candidate will have fantastic leadership skills and have a strong background in IT operations.


What you ll be doing:


  • Monitor system/network performance and ensure availability and reliability across multiple office locations; troubleshoot infrastructure as necessary
  • Establish and maintain security protocols and policies, ensuring company and client data are protected at all times; assist director with enforcing IT policies
  • Develop and implement IT initiatives, projects, and solutions
  • Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and other external parties
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and IT trends
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Provide second-level support to users, including troubleshooting and desktop application support
  • Train and mentor team members
  • Manage and coordinate IT staff
  • Manage data backup operations ensuring all required file systems and data are successfully backed up and/or archived to the appropriate media and/or facility; assist with disaster recovery.
  • Apply OS and application patches on a routine basis
  • Provide training/education to users as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned


What you ll need:


  • Degree in Computer Science, MIS/IT or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in IT operations management, System/Networking Administration, troubleshooting or similar position
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Administration
  • Working knowledge of software, hardware, network architecture, Windows 10, Microsoft Server, and other IT systems
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory Administration, SharePoint, VMware, Power Automate/Apps, Microsoft SQL Server
  • Working knowledge of IT Security and Systems principles
  • Proficient in working with different brands of Network Switching / Firewall and Router Architecture
  • A+, Network+, and/or similar certifications highly preferred
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, patience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding and experience supporting computer systems, mobile devices, such as iPads, iPhones and other tech products
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, reach, kneel for extended periods, and lift/move equipment up to 50 lbs.
