Department Summary

The Department of Political Science at UNT is a highly productive department with 27 faculty members who are committed to excellence in both teaching and research. It offers BA, MA/MS, and PhD degrees. Faculty in the department have previously edited the American Political Science Review, International Studies Quarterly, and Journal of Political Science Education,. The department also houses the Castleberry Peace Institute, the Peace Studies Program, and the Latina/o Mexican-American Studies Program. The Department's web site is:

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

The faculty member will be expected to teach PSCI 2305 and PSCI 2306 classes which are our core undergraduate American politics courses. The faculty member will teach occasional courses related to their field of expertise and will provide support for our Peace Studies program The typical teaching load is 4/4 (3/3 with service release).

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. or MS in Political Science.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in program administration and development
Experience teaching in conflict and human security
