We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Revenue Recognition Manager to join our finance team. This hybrid role will be based out of our Minneapolis, MN office. The Revenue Recognition Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with revenue recognition standards and managing the revenue accounting process for our technology company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue recognition principles, experience in the technology industry, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.


Here is what we need our Revenue Recognition Manager to do:


  • Lead and oversee the revenue recognition process in accordance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Review customer contracts to assess revenue recognition implications and ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Collaborate with sales, legal, and product teams to structure revenue arrangements that align with company objectives and accounting standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to sales and finance teams on revenue recognition matters, including deal structuring and contract negotiations.
  • Review and approve revenue-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare revenue forecasts and assist with revenue recognition impact analysis for business decisions.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulations related to revenue recognition and assess their impact on the company.
  • Assist with internal and external audits and provide documentation and explanations related to revenue recognition.
  • Support special projects and initiatives related to revenue recognition and financial reporting as needed.


What education and skills does our Revenue Recognition Manager need?

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Five+ years of progressive experience in revenue recognition accounting, preferably in the technology industry; Three+ years supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 and other revenue recognition standards
  • Experience with revenue recognition software and ERP systems; proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
