Job Summary

The Work Scheduler is responsible for utilizing informationfrom many sources, such as business systems, work planners, work managementteams, etc., to produce and execute work schedules for EPB field personnel. TheWork Scheduler is responsible for planning, assigning, and executing necessarypreparation tasks for primary energy and communication infrastructure work.This position manages and prioritizes daily work driven by customer milestones,operational maintenance, and emergency restoration. The Work Scheduler isultimately responsible for collaborating with the Work Planner position tocreate an actionable plan mitigating all possible obstacles to the crew'sability to complete the work efficiently. Real-time assignment changes tomaintain maximum efficiency and effectiveness while meeting changingpriorities, including planned and emergency response work, are a daily integralpart of this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce efficient and productive work schedulefor EPB field resources based on many sources of information regarding customerand operational priorities
  • Meet or exceed the customer's expectation ofwork regarding timelines and quality
  • Manage the daily tasks of current projectsthrough field coordination and decision-making including traffic controlcoordination, material issuance, underground locates, customer outages,caution, and clearances
  • Effectively communicate project due dates byphase to facilitate resource allocation and scheduling
  • Coordinate with groups like construction,preventative maintenance, project management, and energy services to plan andexecute work
  • Coordinate all aspects of construction includingefficiently notifying and scheduling fiber optics installation
  • Plan staffing and needed resources to meet workorder commitments while maintaining productivity measures
  • Remain proactively aware of upcoming deadlinesto secure appropriate resources
  • Identify all internal project stakeholders andcoordinate the smooth flow of work
  • Resolve customer issues and work with customersas needed for best-case resolution
  • Communicate and expedite revisions and resolvecustomer-effecting issues with engineering and design
  • Manage projects with a keen eye on financialparameters, ensuring adherence to budgets ranging from $15 to $20 million
  • Effectively communicate information from thefield to customers or other departments on outstanding tasks for planned oremergency work
  • Provide valuable input in work planning sessionsto prioritize and allocate resources with construction leadership
  • Actively participate in the work management teamto prioritize and plan operational maintenance work (non-customer-driven); takepriority work from this team and implement it effectively
  • Maintain exceptional documentation regardingcustomer communications, milestones, and delivery date changes to track EPBwork progress accurately
  • Maintain EPB data systems to support accuratereporting of scheduling and field work activities
  • Act as a single point of contact for thecustomer in coordination with the Work Planner from the approval of a primarywork project by Electric or Fiber Design through operational completion
  • Field and coordinate key customer requests fromEnergy Services while working with design and project managers on keycustomer-driven project timelines
  • Suggest ideas to improve or create new processesand procedures and discuss them with the immediate management team
  • Design and create emergency work orders and jobpacks during outages and emergency response situations
  • Contribute to various storm work roles in-officeand in the field as needed
  • Available to work 24/7/365 - Shift Work; Regularwork hours include evenings, overnights, and weekends; Overtime is required -mainly during storms or other system events. Working on holidays foroperational needs may be required

Education and Experience
  • Associate degree with a background in industrialtechnology or journeyman-level trade apprenticeship in the electric field
  • 3+ years' experience in electric constructionand infrastructure development
  • Ability to work and communicate in a fast-paced,high-volume environment
  • Knowledge of basic office systems such asOutlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to become proficient in all EPB businesssystem applications used to plan, assign, execute, and monitor work, includingPragma, CAD, EnQuesta, Omnia, OMS, GT Viewer, RESCO SPAN, and otherapplications used in daily operations
  • Demonstrated excellent organization, analytical,time management, and customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills,with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with customers
  • Customer-focused mindset, committed todelivering high-quality results and exceeding customer expectations
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skillsto anticipate and address project risks and obstacles

Certification(s) & Other Requirements
  • Must be able to participate in an on-goingon-call rotation that focuses on the convenience of our customers
  • Ability to accept responsibility, thinkindependently and make logical decisions as it relates to field issues duringday-to-day operations and planning
  • Possess and maintain a current, valid driver'slicense in the state of residence and demonstrate safe and responsibleoperation of motor vehicles
  • Ability to effectively communicate informationand respond to questions from management, field personnel, customers, and thegeneral public clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical conceptssuch as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, probability, andstatics. Must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions,percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to present information in one-on-one andsmall group situations to customers and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to complete required reports, writtenand on the computer

Physical Demands
  • The work environment typically represents astandard office setting
  • At times, the work will require detailedanalysis and planning to schedule work for optimum efficiency. At other times,the environment will be stressful as assignments are made to deal with systememergencies
  • The regular work hours for this position willinclude evenings, overnights, and weekends
