Danberry at Inverness is searching for an Executive Chef with a passion for hospitality! We are hiring a chef looking for a change of pace a chef looking to re-evaluate their work-life balance. Imagine feeding your passion for food while having an excellent schedule that allows you time with your family and friends. A typical dinner service starts at 4:30 pm and ends at 6:30 pm. After some cleanup, you will be home to tuck in your baby or out catching the early bird drink special with friends. The Executive Chef position in a luxury retirement community is one of the best-kept secrets in the culinary industry; at least, that is what you will be telling your chef friends (via text, of course, because they will still be at work standing over a fryer while you re at home with your family).

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of an Executive Chef:

1. Supervise employees in the Kitchen.

2. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and

applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.

3. Plan, staff, organize and coordinate the preparation of all meals in all levels of care.

4. Plan menus and menu cycles according to cultural and regional food preferences, and resident dietary guidelines. Adjusts recipes to appropriate yield.

5. Monitor the quality and consistency of the food to include food temperatures, portion control, palatability and attractiveness of food, and implements changes to ensure quality according to established standards.

6. Ensure compliance with Resident dietary restrictions.

7. Walk dining room each night to ensure resident satisfaction and feedback.

8. Observe workers engaged in preparing, portioning, and garnishing foods to ensure that methods

of cooking and garnishing and sizes of portions are as prescribed.

9. Give instructions to cooking staff in fine points of cooking.

10. Cook and carve meats, and prepare dishes.

11. Monitor budgeted line items and keep variance within targeted range.

12. Ensure cleaning and sanitation of kitchen equipment and areas.

13. Supports creating a culture where the business decisions made in this position, along with individual employee engagement, drive top-line revenue and occupancy.

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

Associate s or Bachelor s degree in culinary arts preferred
Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Chef/Kitchen Manager in a food service
environment
One year of hospitality or senior living/housing industry preferred
One year of hospital/healthcare preferred
