Your role in helping us shape the future:

In this position, you will use your strengths and skills to help readers make important decisions about their money.

As an associate editor on the credit cards, loans and banking team, you'll edit and update stories, profiles and core guides; help conduct search engine optimization research; and use analytics to monitor performance of our content and make recommendations.

Are you up to the challenge?

You should be a nimble editor who is skilled at juggling several assignments at once. As part of the job, you'll edit loans, credit cards and banking content for flow, consistency, tone, audience, length, accuracy and SEO. Responsibilities also include helping to update and maintain our library of content, fact-checking, testing pages associated with our "Best" lists to ensure error-free work and writing short-form profiles.

This position involves working closely with an enthusiastic, highly collaborative team of editors in a fast-paced digital environment.

Position Requirements

You should definitely have:

  • One month to 12 months' of experience in professional editing at a media company or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Strong copy editing skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Interest in personal finance and other money topics.
  • Ability to edit content for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Expertise and experience using AP style.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple teams.


It would be nice if you had:
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience employing SEO best practices.
  • Experience analyzing data and incorporating findings into content.
  • Experience editing in a content management system.
  • Experience using Google Docs and Sheets.
  • Familiarity with SEMRush.
  • Experience with traffic analytics tools like Google Analytics.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve content and better engage our audience.

  • In New York City, the anticipated base salary for this position is $50,000 - $60,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, interview performance, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
