Payroll Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY: The Payroll Accountant is responsible for running bi-weekly payroll. Will be responsible for performing month-end tasks related to Payroll including performing journal entries and GL account reconciliations each month. Other Accounting-related duties will also be required. This is a hands-on position that reports to the CFO.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis through ADP for all US hourly and salaried employees.
  • Process and peer audit employee payroll data, payments, and hours.
  • Calculate and process timecards and corrections.
  • Ability to read and decipher payroll reporting from payroll systems.
  • Prepare and process journal entries to record payroll and payroll accruals.
  • Cross training and back-up responsibilities of other Accounting/Finance resources as assigned.
  • All other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Performs accounting duties in accordance with established Company policies and procedures.
  • Adjusts data for hours worked and PTO time, as needed. Prints reports and checks information to ensure accuracy. Submits payroll information for processing.
  • Ensures that garnishments and wage attachments are set up as needed for processing. Sets up all required deductions for processing.
  • Completes FICA, state, and federal tax deposits in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Ensures that payroll functions are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Assumes responsibility for completing all payroll related reports, paperwork, and documents accurately and timely.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or another related field.
  • 2+ years' full cycle Payroll experience.
  • Working knowledge of ADP, Sage Intacct a plus.

  • Experience with year-end payroll reporting/processing including delivery of W-2's to employees.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to take initiative and to report problems or concerns.
  • Knowledge of automated accounts payable applications.
  • Well organized, accurate, and attentive to detail.
  • Cooperative and willing to assist others.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak Standard English for routine business correspondence and for producing work products.
  • Must be able to adhere to all established safety policies, processes and procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor settings, including office and warehouse/airplane hangar environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and safety gear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
