Responsibilities:
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and technical documents to understand project requirements and scope.
- Identify project risks and collaborate with the project team to determine mitigation strategies.
- Prepare RFIs for review by Senior Estimator and submission to the owner for clarification of missing information in owner documents.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather necessary information for cost estimation.
- Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to develop detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Research and evaluate vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for project components.
- Participate in bid review meetings and assist in the preparation of bid proposals.
- Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and performance standards.
- Assist the negotiations team by providing required information to support the negotiation process.
- Prior to the issuing of the formal bid package, provide the Senior Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package for their approval.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitiveness in bids.
- Provide support to senior estimators and contribute to departmental initiatives to improve estimating processes and procedures.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators, supporting their professional development and growth within the company.
Requirements:
- Good knowledge of assigned discipline, construction technology, and estimating techniques.
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
- Proficiency in performing arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
- Capability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings.
- Identify and meet customers needs, expectations, and requirements.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of specific variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary.
- Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work closely with more senior estimators and display a willingness to learn from their feedback.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in the renewable energy sector or related industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience in Accubid Enterprise, a plus.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and project meetings.
