The Assistant Estimator provides a training ground for the individual to perform meaningful tasks as they learn the processes and procedures of the pre-construction department and the company.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS:

* B.S degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
* The Assistant Estimator will be given direction and mentored by a Senior Estimator.
* Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills.
* Possess an understanding of Owner contracts, WDB subcontracts, and vendor contracts.
* The Assistant Estimator shows initiative in the performance of his or her duties.
* Can manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow-up skills both internally and externally.
* Demonstrates fundamental proficiency of oral and written communication skills.
* Collaborate effectively with other team members (listen, take directions).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Ensure plans and specifications are up to date with all agenda items.
* Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors.
* The Assistant Estimator transmits agenda and other bid information to subcontractors.
* Ensure that we have the proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day.
* Contact supply houses to obtain additional subcontractor bids.
* Review project plans and specifications for assigned sections.
* The Assistant Estimator performs quantity takeoff for assigned sections.
* Enter relevant takeoff information into bid estimates as directed.
* Develops a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades assigned.
* Create Request for Information (RFI's) and clarifications for specific trades assigned.
* Perform comprehensive "bid day" analysis and scoping of specific trades assigned.
* Assemble post bid binders as required.
* The Assistant Estimator double-checks all critical work deliverables to minimize mistakes.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
* Proficient in MS Office Suite
* Knowledge of computer operations and the following applications: Sage Estimating software, MS Project, Plan Swift, and Bluebeam preferred.
* Knowledge of estimating procedures, documents, pricing, take-offs, and cost analysis preferred.
* Effective use of estimating related software preferred.
* Knowledge of building information modeling applications preferred.
