**Buyer**
**Location:** Theodore, AL, United States, 36582 *****Ensuring Charts Success*****
The Buyer will work with the Supply Chain Manager to optimize supplier costs, quality, and delivery to gain the lowest cost through the supply chain in support of strategic plans. This role resides in the Theodore, Alabama facility.
* Research products and engage with vendors to obtain the best price with considerations of quality, reliability, and urgency of need
* Prepare purchase orders and place orders, including tracking back orders
* Participate in creating and implementing programs to optimize inventory turns and improve working capital performance
* Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all inventory and supplier related data
* Improve on-time delivery to customers and from vendors
* Identify and resolve process and system roadblocks in conjunction with manufacturing engineering to improve productivity and throughput
* Help develop management tools to assess productivity improvements and cost reductions
* May assist with contract negotiation and cost downs with vendors
* May analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepare market analysis reports
* Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
* Arrange for disposal of surplus materials
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
*****Your Education Should Be*****
* Bachelors degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university
* CPM or CPIM certification preferred
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
*****Your Professional Experience Should Be*****
* 3 or more years of progressive materials management experience working in a manufacturing environment
* Supply-base experience with a progressive organization focused on improvements to quality, cost, and delivery, a plus
* A strategic mindset and understanding of the role he/she will play in creating partnerships and cost-containment programs with suppliers
* Experience with JDE ERP software, highly desirable
* Knowledge of accounting and cost systems as well as computerized systems (software and hardware), a plus
* Experience with ISO 9000, Kanban and lean manufacturing environment, a plus
