** Position Description**
**Safety Team Member** Location **MTD Products Inc -Willard, OH** Job Code **3105** # of openings **1** **Purpose** **:**
The Safety Team Member works with departments throughout the facility with a focus on safety awareness, preventative actions, and improvement measurables.
**Responsibilities / Authority** **:**
* Verify the facility and equipment compliance with plant safety policies, OSHA, and other industry specific regulations
* Conduct and document safety audits, and coordinate corrective actions
* Assist with initiatives to improve safety awareness and work practices, and reduce process risks
* Train and/or certify operators to equipment operation, lockout/tag out, fall protection, ladder safety, hazard communications, and confined space entry protocol
* Conduct accident investigations and root cause analysis as required
* Update monthly safety reports, including maintaining safety issues list
* Work closely with engineering teams to ensure development and rollout of new technologies is successful
* Assist with the Plant Safety Team, Steering Committee, and Rapid Improvement events
* Participate in hearing and environmental testing
* Attend offsite training when required
* Complete data entry and filing of safety training forms and certificates
* Recognize concerns and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
* Encourage proper ergonomics to eliminate unnecessary action or motion to prevent repetitive stress injuries
* Perform departmental tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager
**Minimum Qualifications** **:**
* High School Diploma or GED
* Experience conducting safety training in a manufacturing environment preferred
* Must have a valid lift truck operator license or successfully complete lift truck training
* Working technology skills (e.g., MS OS, MS Suite, etc.)
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to develop and successfully implement training
* Public speaking experience (e.g., facilitating training or speaking to a large group)
* Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Must be able to self manage projects including meeting established deadlines
* Ability to work well with employees at all levels of the facility
* Must be self-motivated with a good work ethic (e.g., minimal absences and tardiness)
* Able to work overtime or other shifts as needed
