Gains an understanding of facility management, planning, operations, and profitability by observation, participation and mentoring by the Administrator and senior staff.
Qualifications:Education:- BS in health care administration, business administration, finance, a clinical specialty or equivalent long term care experience
Licenses/Certification:- Must be eligible for required licensure
Experience:- Two years experience in a long term care facility
Essential Functions:- Becomes knowledgeable about processes and procedures for administration, clinical operations, and service departments
- Studies State and Federal rules and regulations governing the operation of long term care centers
- Works with Admissions and Sales and Marketing to understand the development of referral sources, increasing census, and the admissions process
- Works with the DON to understand clinical procedures and processes as they apply to long term care centers, and the challenges faced by the clinical staff
- Observes and participates in service departments activities to understand their role in supporting the residents and facility
- Participates in business office activities and the budget development and monitoring process to understand the financial role of the administrator
- Obtain required training to pass state licesure exam
- Performs other tasks as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:- Ability to gain knowledge of varied rules and regulations governing long term care operations and reimbursements
- Knowledge of cost reporting, profit and loss and budget compliance
- Ability to work with a large staff and diverse client base
- Ability to be flexible in work hours
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization
