Job Details
Duties:
Administer the work of the Department and administer and operate all Township recreation facilities and recreation programs.
Plan and develop additional public recreational areas and facilities.
Cooperate with other municipal departments, service clubs, and organizations in furthering recreational and cultural interests in the Township.
Adopt reasonable rules, regulations, and by laws subject to the approval of the Mayor and Council for the conduct of all persons participating in programs and activities or utilizing recreational facilities or equipment sponsored by the Department.
Attend meetings of the Recreation Committee of the Township Council.
Study, investigate, develop, and recommend recreation programs.
Conduct studies of the present and future recreational needs of the Township and develop immediate and long-range plans in consultation with Recreation Committee for recommendation to the Mayor and Township Council.
Maintain such records as may be required to control department receipts, property and personnel, and provide information to the Mayor for budgeting and financing of recreational programs. Such records shall include timecards, or the equivalent Township-approved time tracking device, for part-time and seasonal personnel.
Be responsible to the Mayor for the proper custody and preservation of the books, records and property under his or her control, and for the faithful performance of his or her duties.
Submit to the Mayor monthly reports concerning the conduct and progress of the Department, including receipts and monies.
Administer the expenditure of funds in accordance with the annual budget.
Administer the management of the public golf course, ice rink and youth services.
Operate programs related to Township beaches and boardwalks.
Hire part-time and seasonal staff as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in recreation or closely related field.
5 years' experience in the management and operations of recreational programs and activities.
