Summary
The employee is engaged in the fabrication and assembly of tooling, dies, jigs and fixtures, and includes the development of special projects and machines.
Essential Functions
- Manufactures and builds parts that are used and assembled into dies, jigs, fixtures, and special projects/machines.
- Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, and jigs and fixtures.
- Studies specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize products to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers.
- The ability to fabricate and build assemblies.
- Accurately and efficiently assembles/tests products to achieve customer quality and on-time delivery schedules.
- Interpret complicated aerospace drawings and specifications.
- Use various types of fabrication equipment, conventional machine tools, precision measurement tools, and various hand tools.
- Understanding of assembly, bonding, riveting, and other processes associated with tool shop jobs.
- Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
- Performs basic assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Performs touch-up or full surface painting of parts with finishing materials such as paint, lacquer, glaze etc. Mixes paint and cleans parts.
- Must perform assembly techniques such as countersinking, applying rivets, reaming, and drilling.

Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- Ability to understanding and carry out detailed but uninvolved oral or written instructions.
- Must know assembly, bonding, composite materials, riveting, and other processes associated with tool shop jobs.
- Knowledge of flight hardware, tooling and ground support (close tolerance assembly integration)
- Advanced math skills (Algebra, Trigonometry, GD&T Math)
- Set up and operate band saws, milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, hoist/crane equipment, etc.
- Knowledge in use of hand tools (drill motors, grinders, basic measurement Instruments, etc.)
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing from 15 to 50 pounds.
- Minimum six years' experience as Assembler; including prior experience in Aerospace/Manufacturing setting.
- Requires the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Ability to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.

Salary Description
$25.00 - $40/hr.
