Job Summary

The Quality Technician is responsible for providing the Quality Department technical support, such as performing quality tasks and documentation. This person will be a resource for the Quality Department.

Essential Functions

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Quality Technician consist of but are not limited to:

1. Part Development and Maintenance:

Generate bubble prints, inspection plans, and other quality documents for new and existing products.

Utilize precision measuring instruments and equipment to verify conformance to specifications.

Assist in development of new inspection methods, processes, and training.

2. Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection and test results per customer requirements.

Prepare quality reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action requests (CARs).

Ensure proper documentation and traceability in accordance with AS9100 and ISO 13485 standards.

3. Quality Control:

Monitor and enforce quality control processes and procedures.

Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Support internal and external audits, including preparing necessary documentation and facilitating audit processes.

4. Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to address quality issues.

Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding quality performance and improvement initiatives.

Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards and procedures.

5. Continuous Improvement:

Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing product quality and process efficiency.

Contribute to the development and revision of quality documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

6. General

Exhibit a working knowledge of health and safety, responsible for safety awareness, while upholding and improving the culture of safety within the organization. Identify opportunities for improvement and act if appropriate before a problem occurs. Report potential hazards, unsafe working conditions, unsafe equipment, unsafe acts, and injuries immediately.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements - High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum of 2 years of experience in relevant manufacturing/quality support role

Proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.

ASQ certification (e.g., CQI, CQT) is desirable but not required.

Competencies

Strong understanding of quality control principles, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause analysis techniques.

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Familiarity with quality management software and ERP systems (Epicor or other) is preferred.

Ability to pass annual vision testing.

Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds.
