Description
Results Statement:
Responsible for the purchase of food and related items and all daily meal preparation and food service for female residential clients at two residential homes. Supports and maintains Alpha Home's policies, procedures, code of ethics, mission and core values of Spirituality, Compassion, Integrity, Respect and Inclusivity.
FUNCTIONS/BEHAVIORS:
- Follow menus approved by Licensed Dietician
- Responsible for providing a warm and accepting environment for residential clients. Ensure that dining experience is satisfactory
- Responsible for purchasing of food and associated necessary products for the residential homes; ensure homes remain stocked at all times
- Responsible for maintaining required records including food preparation, inventory and menus
- Ensure safety standards are maintained while food is being prepared
- Ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed
- Ensure food in storage meets adequate levels of nutrition and sustenance and is stored correctly and safely to prevent contamination or spoilage
- Responsible for meal planning, preparation, cooking, and serving meals in accordance with recognized Health Standards
- Observe serving of food to client to help with portion control and promote healthy eating habits
- Provide modified diets to residents with medical requirements as determined by a licensed health professional; consult with Licensed Dietician when needed to provide attractive, modified meals
- Provide modified meals for residents who request them
- Responsible for ordering food by menu items to control food costs and decrease waste in accordance with agency budget
- Other tasks as assigned by Direct Care Director
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:- High School Graduate or equivalent required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience in food service management
- Possess valid Texas driver's license and meet auto insurance requirements
- Able to carry or life up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to bend, stoop and negotiate stairs
- Must acquire Food Protection Manager Certification (American National Standards Institute or comparable)
- Must have good time management and organizational skills.
- Former clients of Alpha Home are not eligible for employment for a minimum of 2 years following discharge
- Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check, employment background check, reference check, and urinalysis drug screen.
- Must be motivated to work with multi-cultural, dual diagnosis, and criminal justice clients.
