Job Summary
The Business Development Strategist at Mountain America Credit Union is responsible for expanding our organizational reach and fostering valuable partnerships. Primary responsibilities include cultivating and strengthening relationships with both existing and potential business partners, including Select Employer Groups/Associations. You will actively solicit and develop new business connections, assists branch management with individual business development and drive organizational growth.

SCHEDULE

Full-Time

To be effective, an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully.

  • Responsible for building and deepening relationships with current and prospective business partners (Select Employer Groups/Associations).
  • Solicits, develops and maintains new business relationships for the organization.
  • Increases membership eligibility and drives membership growth through deepening existing relationships and onboarding new Select Employer Groups.
  • Documents sales calls, visits, and results and provides weekly, monthly, and other status reports as required.
  • Coordinates business development projects, including the organization of project teams to complete objectives.
  • Utilizes ROI metrics and reporting dashboards for all business development efforts.
  • Collaborates with branches to identify potential business members (Select Employer Groups) and provides training to branch employees.
  • Assists with business partners new employee orientations, financial education presentations benefit fairs as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains effective and professional business relations with members, third parties and other business professionals.
  • Maintains business pipeline to find business services, business lending, wealth management and commercial real estate lending opportunities for the Credit Union.
  • Ensures that the Credit Union and its Select Employer Group's adhere to, and are in compliance with, Field of Membership (FOM) requirements, procedures and processes.
  • Actively educate and promote FOM compliance as required by the NCUA.
  • Utilizes and lives Mountain America's sales philosophy (AAA) by uncovering additional business needs including needs of business employee base.
  • Ensure that the Credit Union maintains sufficient Select Employer Groups and Associations to add and serve new members, markets, and regions.
  • Continually identifies ways to increase support of Select Employer Groups/Associations while focusing on scalability.
  • Represents and participates in various networking and community events to drive and develop Mountain America's business efforts.
  • Ensures the Credit Union's professional image and atmosphere is conducive to a sales and quality service culture.
  • Travel within assigned area. Work evenings and weekends as needed, showing flexibility to meet job requirements and support organizational goals.
  • Attends assigned training sessions and stays current on new procedures and policies.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Represents Mountain America's core values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Experience

Three or more years of professional experience in business-to-business relationship management or training experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, or related field preferred. An additional four years of progressive professional experience in a sales or relationship management may be substituted in place of a degree. Education will be verified.

Computer/Office Equipment Skills

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Experience with analytical and reporting software preferred.
  • Strong ability to perform daily job tasks using video calling software. (Zoom, Teams, etc.)


Language Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly express ideas, methodology, results and recommendations verbally, in writing and through insightful reports and graphic illustrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to document outcomes and present information in a manner appropriate for key stakeholders and all levels of the organization.


Other Skills and Abilities

  • Previous experience in business development, sales, or relationship management in financial service industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop business and economic growth for the Credit Union.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Knowledge of credit union products and services preferred.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators, such as membership growth and product adoption rates and adjust strategies as needed to optimize results.
  • Ensure compliance regulatory requirements for all business development activities.
  • Knowledge and experience in business and economic development.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with strong organizing and time management skills and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and timelines.
  • Adaptive to change, responds positively to altered circumstances or conditions.
  • Possess a desire and willingness to learn and continually update knowledge base on financial concepts, strategies, systems etc.
  • Take initiative to be a problem solver and provide suggestions to improve processes and efficiencies.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to lead and collaborate with ad-hoc teams.
  • Data analytics and data validation skills and proficiency in business data analysis (MS Excel, etc.)
  • Valid driver license and good driving record required.

Ability to sit, talk and hear consistently.

Ability to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or reach occasionally.

Must be willing to travel and work nights and weekends regularly.
