Join our growing, family-friendly firm with a focus on serving the construction industry as an Employment Defense and Compliance Attorney.
Primary responsibility will be to represent and advise clients on employment matters, which shall include:
- Litigating wage and hour, misclassification, discrimination, and restrictive covenant cases in state and federal court and before administrative boards.
- Representing small and medium businesses in relation to investigations by the Mass. Attorney General s Fair Labor Division, the US Dept. of Labor or other government agencies.
- Handbook review and drafting and advising clients on employment policies.
- Drafting and negotiation of employment agreements, non-solicitation and non-compete agreements, and commissions agreements.
- Conduct workplace or jobsite investigations.
Secondary responsibility will include some general civil litigation and/or transactional work and research and preparation of articles for publication in scholarly and trade journals on subject matter relevant to the firm s client base.
1,500 hour per year billable hour expectation. Bonus for exceeding expectations.
Required Qualifications:
- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school;
- Minimum 4 years relevant experience;
- Strong academic credentials; and
- Admission to practice in Massachusetts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Davis-Bacon and state prevailing wage requirements.
- Admission to practice (or pending admission) in Rhode Island.
Employment Conditions:
- Hybrid schedule. Minimum 1 day per week in office.
