As a Temporary Landscaping Assistant, you will:
- Maintain university property by caring for all types of plants, grasses, and trees on the property.
- Be responsible for mowing, trimming, raking, watering, fertilizing, and treating with herbicides/insecticides.
- Perform snow and ice removal as needed during winter months.
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment used.
- Provide light maintenance support (helping to move furniture, replacing light bulbs, touch-up painting, etc.) during winter months or as needed.
Must be able to work outdoors year-round in a variety of conditions and with landscaping chemicals, pesticides, etc. Position requires obtaining a pesticide applicator's license within 3 months of hire.

Minimum Required Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalency
- One year of directly related training or experience in grounds care, equivalency considered.
- Ability to operate and maintain industrial lawn equipment and lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to read and follow directions.
- Availability to assist with emergencies outside of normal working hours required.
- Valid driver's license with eligibility to drive on UNL business required.
Preferred Qualifications - Training and/or experience in the following fields is helpful: grounds care and grounds care equipment maintenance.
- Turf and building pesticide applications license preferred.
