Escalator Technician


Job Details

Adjusts safety controls, mechanisms and components of escalators and moving sidewalks for optimal performance and in accordance with approved Draka EHC procedures and the local safety codes. Repairs and maintains escalators and moving sidewalks by using hand and power tools as well as testing devices, such as test lamps, ammeters and voltmeters. Disassembles defective units and repairs them or replaces parts such as steps, gears, cables and electric wiring. Assembles escalator components, such as steps, balustrades and handrails. Connects electrical wiring to control panels and electric motors. Inspects wiring connections, control panel and alignments and clearances of escalator and hoist ways to ensure that equipment will operate properly. Locates malfunctions in brakes, motors, switches and signal and control systems, using test equipment Troubleshoots and deals effectively with unexpected problems using departmental procedures and problem-solving techniques.
