Maintenance Porter

DEFINITION

The maintenance porter cleans and maintains the restrooms and teacher lounge bathrooms and kitchen areas in the

school and assists school personnel with work requests.

PREREQUISITE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum: A High School Diploma, equivalent or relevant experience and a basic understanding of cleaning and sanitation procedures

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with the Everett Public Schools

SALARY

Salary range is between $19-$22 per hour and will be a member of custodian union SEIU local 888.

WORKING TIME

The maintenance porter will work an 8 hour shift, typically between the hours of 9am-5pm or 10am to 6pm. Shifts are determined by the Director of Facilities to provide the best coverage and operations of the buildings.

DUTIES

The Maintenance Porter shall

  • The individual will be responsible for interacting with the principal, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Ensure routine cleanliness and maintenance of all bathrooms in assigned school, including mopping all floors, cleaning of toilets and sink areas.
  • Ensure bathrooms are fully stocked of paper products throughout the school day.
  • Daily cleaning of the cafeteria tables.
  • Daily cleaning of teacher lounge bathrooms and kitchen areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of school nurse suites throughout the day.
  • Responsible for cleaning all mirror and glass surfaces within the school, including all classroom glass doors and entrance door glass.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • The individual must be punctual and have outstanding attendance practices.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Director of Maintenance and/or Principal and Assistant/Vice Principal, in any of our schools.
