Location: Mercy Hospital **Description**

Salary Range: $15.25-21.50

Starting salary is determined based upon factors that may include: years of relevant experience, education, applicable certifications/licensure, and internal equity.

Patrols the Mercy campus and outlying areas to provide protection of life and property. Provides routine safety and security duties. Remains alert and responds to emergency situations. Performs related work as required.

* Conducts investigation of incidents. Prepares clear and accurate reports utilizing incident reporting software.

* Enforces hospital regulations, guidelines, and policy as needed.

* Ensures appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.

* Patrols areas as assigned to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.

* Performs life safety inspections as assigned. These inspections may include fire extinguishers, emergency lights, exit lights, sprinkler flow & tampers, conducting of fire drills, & hazard surveillance.

* Prepares daily reports of shift activity. Provides written communication as needed to other safety & security officers.

* Provides emergency response as requested or needed. Emergency response may include disasters, fire, tornado, duress alarms, hazardous materials decontamination, infant abduction, bomb threat, non-violent crisis intervention, and aggressive patients.

* Provides information and assistance to patients, visitors, & employees.

* Provides escort service, lockouts, jump-starts as requested.

* Provides traffic control and enforcement measures on all of Mercy owned or operated property.

* Receives property found in hospital, inventories and properly enters property into lost & found system.

* Responds to routine and emergency calls for service.

* Transfers deposits between the hospital and financial institutions to maintain security of funds.

* Transports patients as requested to and from hospital. Assists with the loading and unloading of patients, operates transport vehicle in a professional manner.

* Understands the application of the key management system. Assists with the preparation and installation of the keys and cores.

* Makes minor lock repairs as needed.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Minimum Requirements**

**Education**

High School Diploma required

Associates Degree preferred or equivalent experience

**Experience**

* Previous experience in safety & security, law enforcement, fire service, emergency medical services required.

* Must be able to see color spectrum; read write and speak fluent English.

* Able to make critical decisions under high stress situation.

* Computer experience preferred.

**Certification/Licensure**

* Valid Iowa Class D license, good driving record required.

* Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and BCLS within one year of date of employment is required.
