Summary Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and/or entries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts or documenting business transactions.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret financial information for the organization.
  • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
  • Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
  • Completes monthly accounting reports due to outside agencies.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Coordinates with Controller on the implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
  • Completes bank reconciliations.
  • Monitors vendor statements.
  • Assists with preparation of annual audit workpapers.

  • Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree and one or more years related experience and/or training.
  • Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Property Management Software; Database software; Internet software; Excel; Outlook; and Word.
  • Professional Licenses, Certificates, Registrations Valid Michigan Driver's License
  • Other Qualifications Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to complete the requirements of the position.
