Pittsburg State University seeks a faculty member in School Counseling committed to high-quality teaching for a full-time, tenure-earning position in the Department of Psychology and Counseling (

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Duties include teaching undergraduate and/or master's level courses; specific courses will depend on areas of expertise and/or experience but may include: Educational Psychology, Program Planning and Management in School Counseling, Contemporary and Ethical Issues in School Counseling,Group Dynamics, Career Development, or Family Counseling.
  • Scholarly activity in the area of school counseling is desirable and service to the department, college, and university are required.
  • The candidate filling the position will be part of the M.S. School Counseling program.
  • Graduate teaching, advising, and supervision.

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience - Time of Hire:
  • Ph.D. in Counselor Education or related counseling area, applicants who are ABD will be considered.
  • Candidates must be licensed or license-eligible in the State of Kansas.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Experience in supervising practicum/internship courses
  • Experience working as a professional school counselor in elementary and/or secondary school settings
  • Professional memberships in school counseling and other professional organizations
  • An active research agenda.
