A leading general contractor specializing in vertical construction projects in North Carolina is looking to expand their legal team with a Senior Legal Advisor. The Senior Legal Advisor will join a dynamic team and provide expert legal guidance on construction-related matters.


The Senior Legal Advisor will play a crucial role in overseeing the legal aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, mitigating risks, and safeguarding the interests of the company. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position requires a proactive individual with extensive experience in drafting, negotiating, and interpreting construction agreements, including but not limited to AIA contracts, EPC agreements, subcontracts, purchase orders, and design build agreements.


The Senior Legal Advisor will:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of construction-related contracts and agreements to ensure clarity, accuracy, and legal compliance.
  • Advise project teams on contractual obligations, rights, and risks associated with various construction agreements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and procurement teams, to develop contract strategies that align with project objectives and mitigate potential disputes.
  • Provide guidance and support on legal issues arising during the project lifecycle, including claims, change orders, and dispute resolution.
  • Participate in project meetings and negotiations with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other external parties to represent the company's legal interests effectively.


The Senior Legal Advisor must have:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school or equivalent experience in contracts management and construction law OR be a construction contracts professional.
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry or related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, including AIA documents, EPC agreements, subcontracting arrangements, and procurement processes.
  • Proven track record of drafting, negotiating, and managing complex construction agreements with multiple stakeholders.
