Your Opportunity

The Project Manager is responsible for managing the cost, scope, and schedule of one or more projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for collaborating with local and remote Stantec project teams and subcontractors while managing scope, deliverables, quality, project budgets and performing internal and external project status reporting. In this role, you will be part of a major capital grid modernization program. You will also maintain and improve relations with current and future clients within our Power business line. Depending on future opportunities outside of Power, you may also get involved in projects in other business lines.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Managing day-to-day project execution for one or more projects including project team members from various offices around the globe.
  • Manage all aspects of project delivery, including development and review of technical and administrative deliverables, coordination of technical task leads and coordination of internal and external project meetings.
  • Guide multi-disciplinary engineering project completion. Previous experience within the power sector in general, including electrical energy generation, transmission and distribution are desired.
  • Manage project related schedules. Work with schedulers and team to develop effective schedules.
  • Determination and mitigation of project related risks using Stantec internal risk management tools
  • Management of overall project quality, ensuring that project quality objectives are adhered to.
  • Management of project budgets, working with internal Stantec financial tools to achieve project financial objectives.
  • Manage project set-up and project close-out.
  • Manage subcontracts as required on projects.


Your Capabilities and Credentials

Communication:
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with clients, internal teams and subcontractors to effectively execute projects.
  • Ability to implement existing Stantec and client practices, policies, and procedures in assigned projects.
  • Ability to resolve project related problems and issues as they arise.

Knowledge:
  • Possess general knowledge of the project management principals.
  • Possess general knowledge of electrical, industrial, and utility power projects, including familiarity with civil, structural, and electrical engineering, environmental services, surveying, and geomatics, and permitting, to effectively complete projects.
  • Provide innovative, practical, and economical solutions

Accountability & Complexity:
  • Plan, conduct, and direct projects independently.
  • Provide strategic thinking to optimize project delivery, reduce risk for Stantec and the client and effectively deliver quality projects.

Leadership & Teamwork:
  • Provide project leadership to the various project teams: engineering, project controls, environmental, permitting etc.
  • Work effectively as a team member in a matrix organization


Education and Experience
  • Minimum education requirements: BS in engineering, BA in Business Management, or another relevant degree.
  • Required experience: Minimum of 10 years of related experience in utility, construction, or power projects. PMP certification is preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to project worksites to support project work
  • Must be willing to travel outside of Puerto Rico 25% of the time
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish
