Description
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Under direct supervision, perform unskilled to routine semi-skilled work on a crew responsible for the maintenance and repair of grounds, facilities, and equipment associated with the city parks and related recreational facilities. According to area assigned, duties include: cut grass and trim weeds, pick-up trash, drag ball fields, plant trees and shrubs, prune and limb trees, lay sod, and spray herbicide.
This is a seasonal part-time position.
March through August 2024
Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with occasional weekend work
Examples of Duties
Provide manual assistance to workers engaged in the maintenance of City Park grounds, athletic fields, equipment and facilities. Perform park maintenance including, picking up trash, emptying trash cans, washing down hard surfaced areas, making net or fence repairs, and laying out baseball/softball fields per requirements. Will use various hand tools, such as broom, rake, wheelbarrow and shovel and operate power tools and equipment including, small trucks, power driven mowers, back-pack blowers, chalk application devices, paint application machines and ball-field drags.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Some grounds maintenance work experience strongly desirable. Driving record and background check will be conducted.
Requirements
Must be reliable, punctual and able to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed. Requires ability to lift 50 pounds four feet from the ground.
