AscendTek, a telecommunications company, is now hiring Cell Tower Technicians to join our company in the Midwest market.
Midwest market: WI, IL, IN, & MI
Experience required. This is a traveling position. Office based in Cary, IL
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Required to work at heights, up to 300 feet, installing telecom equipment/materials on towers, monopoles, etc.
- Performs tower construction activities including assembling/erecting towers, installing antennas, mounting hardware, installing coax and connectors, grounding, testing, positioning, and optimizing antennas and lines.
- Follows all state and federal safety regulations (OSHA, local turfing vendor, Tower Co., etc.) while working in an efficient and productive manner.
- Uses appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, bend, assemble, and erect all components necessary for lifting, moving, and installing equipment, materials, lines, antennae.
- Troubleshoots tower issues.

Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to travel extensively, possibly out of state, for extended periods of time, including overnight and weekends.
- Ability to work in a team-focused work environment. You must be able to work well in coordination with a crew.
- Ability to locate and use standard industry hand tools, test equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to learn safety procedures, rules & language quickly.
- Strong technical, written, and oral communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Tower Technician OR graduation from a Tower Technician program
- Valid Driver's License
- Must have fully completed and up-to-date industry certs (OSHA 10 and/or 30, Competent Climber, Competent Rescue, First Aid/CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, RF Awareness) OR be willing to go through paid training to get certified/re-certified.
- High School Diploma
- Connector install experience
- Coax, Fiber routing/handling experience
- Top side and bottom side grounding experience
- Rigging experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physically able to climb 1000 vertical feet per day.
- Have the physical strength to perform self-rescues and rescues of others.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduit.
- Lifting and carrying heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Loading and unloading material and equipment in a warehouse setting and on the construction sites, with and without the assistance of a lift gate
- Constantly repeating physical motions like lifting arms, grasping tools, and reaching for equipment. Eye/hand/feet coordination crucial.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
Salary Description
$21-29/hr
