SUMMARY

The Maintenance/Electrical position primary focus will be for routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on electrical systems and equipment. Responsible for working with outside contractors for larger projects. This position will also have responsibilities for general maintenance and repairs for assigned facilities and equipment including, but not limited to; plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems for SAU facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - other duties may be assigned by proper personnel.

PRIMARY

Responsible for servicing current and future electrical maintenance needs across campus.Provide routine maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.Responsible for troubleshooting and repairs on electrical systems and equipment.Maintain RAB cloud-based lighting controls.On-call as scheduled monthly by supervisor.

SECONDARY

Perform general maintenance repairs - inspect, troubleshoot, and repair as needed.Conduct preventative and/or routine maintenance as needed for SAU buildings and systems.Repair and install plumbing fixtures, drain lines and other related services.Perform drain cleaning services.Assist with the management of the HVAC automation system.Cleans and assists with the upkeep of the facilities, removes trash as needed.Assist with the moving of SAU office furniture, office equipment as needed.Communicates the need for supplies and materials to supervisor.Performs other related duties/services as assigned.

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as a member of facilities team reporting directly to the Director of Physical Plant.

QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues.Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings/blueprints.Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance repairs.Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or lead maintenance workers.Experience and knowledge of the use of hand, power and electrical tools.Operation of motor vehicles and machinery needed to perform job duties.Maintain needed certificates for the use of chemical products or specific job-related tasks.Excellent time management skills.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Maintain the required license to operate a motor vehicle.Must be able to always work in a professional manner in a professional environment.Individuals will exhibit a life and service that is in full accord with the Spring Arbor University Concept and Community Covenant.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. The employee will be required to maintain a proper state license to operate motor vehicles. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions.
