Law Clerk
The Children s Legal Center (CLC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free immigration legal services to children and their families across Illinois and Indiana who have experienced victimization. CLC has well-established partnerships with domestic violence service centers in Illinois and directly represents clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court.
Position Description
CLC is seeking a Full-Time Law Clerk to join our team. This position is within Children s Legal Center s Vera Program. Under this program the Law Clerk would meet with Unaccompanied Minors released from ORR custody and directly assist staff attorneys with the following duties: interpreting for client calls and meetings, translating documents, compiling applications, assisting with court hearings, filing with the Immigration Court, scheduling appointments, reviewing forms with clients, and conducting intakes.
Position Requirements
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Familiar with trauma-informed practices
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent organization and communication skills
- Must be passionate about working with children
Compensation
This is a paid position with a starting salary of $35,000-$40,000 per year. The position also includes benefits such as life, medical, vision and dental insurance along with a 401k contribution.
