Sample Associate (Order Picking & Fulfillment)

SUMMARY: The Sample Associate is responsible for receiving, storing and maintaining, and distributing sample materials. Work area is within a large fabric warehouse environment and work requires sitting, standing, bending, lifting, climbing stair ladders and walking between Warehouse and Office areas frequently.

High-energy and highly service oriented individual required and able to accomplish tasks quickly and efficiently. Completes data requests, sample requests, picks and fulfills sample order received electronically, responds to email requests and records results electronically.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Move, gather, and distribute inventory as indicated by production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions.
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to a predetermined location or material item code
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, or other stock items including requests for standard programs, and distributes items to appropriate departments
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and distribute items to appropriate departments, or processes, packs and ships customer orders.
  • Works with other departments including Marketing to assist in preparing samples for trade shows, organizing flyers, and keeping up to date.
  • Conform to company standards and Service Level Agreements (SLA)
  • Marks materials with identifying information labels
  • Opens cartons, and other containers
  • Use a computer application to receive and update Memo (Fabric Sample) requests.
  • Read and respond to emails using MS Outlook. Read reports and enter data as requested.
  • Arranges stock in specified sequence or location
  • Will need to use a computer to enter records, and make adjustments to stock counts and maintain inventory records
  • Perform daily cycle counting of stock items
  • Runs replenishment reports daily to determine stock requirements.
  • Use replenishment reports to determine items that need to be restocked
  • Cut samples of fabrics from rolls, create "Memo's" from the sample, label each item, adjust fabric yardage, put-away items in there appropriate location and adjust "Memo" warehouse to reflect the correct item counts
  • Clean and maintain isles and location bins
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 1-2 years of related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Read and type response to emails, enter data as requested.
  • Previous experience working with Inventory, Manufacturing, and Order Processing programs is highly preferred
  • Able to lift 35 pounds, walk frequently, stand for extended period of time, bend, climb stairs.
  • Forklift licensing and certification is strongly preferred
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Internet Software; Manufacturing Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Contract Management Systems; Inventory Software; Order Processing Systems; Project Management Software; Word Processing Software (Word); and Electronic Mail Software (Outlook).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be physically able to perform assigned tasks including walking, standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time and ability to lift up to 35 pounds. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Forklift licensing and/or certification is strongly preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
