SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Provide a dynamic guest experience in a variety of settings by demonstrating accurate job performance, delivering exceptional customer service, and promoting fun, energy, and enthusiasm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a team member, exemplify and promote Zoo Knoxville's core values through interactions with guests and fellow team members (Care, Respect, Integrity, Education, Serve, Fun).
  • Provide excellent guest experience by consistently delivering high-level customer service and responding to guest inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Greet and welcome Zoo guests in a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Assist in providing a safe and positive work environment for team members and guests.
  • Demonstrate and enforce all Zoo policies and procedures.
  • Regularly staff Front Gate and other Admissions areas as assigned by management.
  • Learn and retain necessary components of multiple Point-of-Sale software systems.
  • Handle large sums of money accurately and provide correct change.
  • Accurately input data and maintain confidentiality of personal information.
  • Check identification and scan tickets and/or memberships accurately.
  • Take pride in your work area by maintaining cleanliness of work areas and surrounding public spaces.
  • Present a professional and neat appearance at all times, following Zoo dress code policy. A nametag will be worn at all times when representing this position.
  • Assist with training as needed.
  • Potential to cross-train and perform duties of Attractions roles as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must demonstrate and promote a team atmosphere while supporting a friendly and efficient workforce and working with a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Must be dependable, honest, and demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Proficient cash handling skills.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors, sitting or standing as directed, in varying temperatures and conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Must be available some nights, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
As an employee of Zoo Knoxville, you must possess English communication skills as well as the ability to communicate using a 2-way radio, email and telephone. The position hours vary depending on business needs and will require weekend and some holiday shifts. Depending on the specific tasks, this position will be required to work within close proximity of exotic and domestic animals and must be aware that there are dangers inherent in working under those conditions.
