Maintenance Leader - Manufacturing


Job Details

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Develop and implement process improvements that will result in increased productivity, cost reductions and/or improved ergonomics. Examples would include assembly aides, material handling carts, racks, etc.

2. Participate in and provide support for workshops and Business Process Reviews.

3. Supervise maintenance associates. Repair, rework and machining support for all manufacturing processes. Examples include tool repair and sharpening, part modifications, fixture development and fabrication and machining prototype parts.

4. Assist Design Engineering with Design for Manufacturing projects.

5. Identify opportunities to in-source work to reduce cost and improve the utilization of assets.

6. Serve as the point of contact between plants and the Corporate tool and die group.

7. Support the continuous improvement of the paint system. Improve part hanging density, quality, ergonomics and system utilization.

8. Through research and bench marking trips, stay abreast of industry trends, process technology and best practices.


RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS


Supervisory Relationships:

1. Reports to Manager Manufacturing Engineering and Continuous Improvement

2. Supervise Tool Room associates


Organization Relationships:


1. Daily contact with operations management, cell managers, engineers and foreman to develop new process and improve existing processes.

2. Daily contact with Tool Room associates to provide direction to their work activities.

3. Frequent contact with safety coordinator to improve ergonomics and achieve safety goals.

4. Frequent contact with corporate group to support continuous improvement workshops and projects.

5. Occasional contact with corporate maintenance group to provide services beyond capacity or abilities.


External Business Relationships:


1. Occasional contact with outside suppliers of purchased components, materials and operating supplies.

2. Occasional contact with equipment suppliers to keep abreast of the latest processes, equipment, and systems.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Technology Degree.5 or more years work experience in an engineering environment. Capable of leading an engineering or technical team.
