Shop Foreman / Welder / Fabricator
My client has been in business for over 45 years. They design, manufacture, install, service, and upgrade material handling equipment.
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Shop Foreman / Fabricator to work inside our shop in Merrillville, Indiana. This is a full-time Monday-Friday position, 5 AM to 3 PM, with some Saturday and Sunday hours as needed.
Job Description:
The Shop Foreman is responsible for the safety, control, maintenance, and supervision of equipment, manpower, and use of materials in his/her assigned area of responsibility. The Shop Foreman is responsible for the staffing and scheduling of all personnel directly associated with the production operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision to 5 shop fabricators and shop painter to maintain a pace of work to achieve our production goals.
- Monitors scheduling
- Interacts with Engineers and print reading
- Communicate with the fabricators to accurately produce equipment with the upmost quality while maintaining safety.
- Maintains the shop equipment and orders supplies for the shop to run smoothly.
- Fabricate machinery using Mig welding equipment.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Work with hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication equipment.
- Perform work with high attention to detail to ensure product quality.
- Follow company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- 5 years supervisory position
- 10 to 15 years of experience in industrial machinery fabrication. With an emphasis on layout and print reading.
- Must have or able to pass welding test AWS D14.1 (welding of industrial and mill cranes)
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
- Self-starter/ work with little supervision.
- Ability to handle physical workload.
