Purchasing Manager


Job Details

We are looking an experienced Purchasing Manager for our client, a home builder in College Station-Bryan area of Texas. This team member will be responsible for developing cost budgets for specific projects, working closely with the preconstruction team to approve purchase orders, managing the bidding processes, and overseeing the procurement of labor and materials to align with construction timelines. This role is a full time with the opportunity for onsite or remote work.


Responsibilities:

  • Establish and improve standard operating procedures for purchasing
  • Maintain cost variance analysis, researching and approving variance purchase orders
  • Create job-specific cost budgets and monthly base budgets for retail pricing
  • Participate in correcting design problems to minimize budget variances and reduce costs
  • Manage databases for start status by community, model offerings, price files, and estimating
  • Communicate and work with trade partners, negotiate prices and terms, solicit bids, research industry trends, maintain specifications, and compile start packages for Field Managers, including necessary permits and approvals


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Previous purchasing experience
  • Proficiency in construction practices and terminology as well as the homebuilding process
  • Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills
  • Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast paced environment


Compensation:

  • $60-80k depending on experience
