Job Overview and Responsibilities We are seeking a Raw Material Buyer in the Princeton, NY area. The Raw Material Buyer will have the responsibility and accountability for a diverse portfolio in North America. The Raw Material Buyer will define/develop strategies for NA region, working collaboratively with internal customers to achieve savings, responsible for ongoing supplier management and contract ownership, including identification of cost savings opportunities and submission of performance metrics. The Raw Material Buyer is responsible for vendor performance and qualification of vendors including adherence of Corporate Social Responsibilities and Sustainability.
* Obtain and maintain professional knowledge
* Collect and analyze customers purchasing demands and needs
* Define, propose and and/or implement purchasing strategies, and action plans Based on central purchasing guidance principles and in line with Solvay Purchasing Process
* Negotiate purchasing contracts Based on central purchasing guidance principles and in line with Solvay Purchasing Process
* Improve purchase performance
* Manage the purchasing processes and activity
* Responsible for about 100+ raw materials & a spend of approx. 24M USD
* Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or related field 3-5 Years of Supply Chain Experience Skills
* Strong communication skills both verbal & written
* Ability to work in cross cultural environment
* Ability to work in matrix organization
* Strong organizational skills
* Excellent negotiation skills
* Good process and analytical skills to understand market trends & raw material environment
