Scope of the Position:

The Housekeeping Houseperson provides support and service for the Room Attendants and maintains cleanliness throughout the hotel.

  • Assist Room Attendants with stripping vacant rooms including soiled linen and terry and trash as needed at the discretion of management and/or supervisor.
  • Deliver miscellaneous goods and supplies to guest rooms and deliver linen and supplies to guest floors.
  • Shampoo hallways, rooms, and public areas.
  • Remove dirty linen from guest floors.
  • Remove trash from work areas to the loading dock/dumpster and remove trash and linen from cleaning carts.
  • Clean elevator car and tracks.
  • Sweep and wash floors, vacuum carpet, wash walls, dust furniture and fixtures and clean ashtrays.
  • Make up and deliver roll-a-way beds. Move furniture, supplies, and equipment.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent Hotel data.
  • Flexible schedule - Willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able walk, stand and exert well placed mobility.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.


Qualification Standards:

  • Education: High school or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: 1 to 2 years previous experience in a similar position in a luxury hotel preferred
  • Grooming: All colleagues must maintain a neat, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided)
