POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the HVAC Design Manager, you will oversee the design and maintenance of HVAC systems in our state-of-the-art broadcast mobile production trucks, critical to our live broadcasting operations. Your role is pivotal in ensuring optimal working conditions for these trucks, guaranteeing seamless broadcasts. Collaborating with maintenance and design partners, you will address systemic HVAC issues and play a key role in the design team for new builds. Your responsibilities include overseeing the overall HVAC schema for these units from pre-production to post-production phases. Additionally, you will support road teams by troubleshooting issues and devising innovative solutions applicable across the fleet. Effective communication of issue trends and solutions to leadership is crucial, and you will be on-site during large-scale productions to plan for high-level HVAC infrastructure needs. You will also contribute to the creation of training materials for road teams, guiding them on troubleshooting common issues and providing routine maintenance to keep mobile units in a show-ready condition.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


HVAC Systems Management

  • Support technical development and maintenance of HVAC systems within broadcast mobile production trucks.
  • Work with teams to ensure regular inspection of HVAC equipment, including compressors, fans, and filters, and replace or repair components.
  • Monitor and design HVAC systems for sensitive broadcasting equipment to maintain ideal climate conditions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving HVAC system malfunctions to prevent downtime during live broadcasts.
  • Consider innovative solutions for system replacements or component upgrades/improvements.


Emergency Response

  • Develop and implement emergency protocols for HVAC systems to address unexpected failures.
  • Be available for on-call / onsite support to respond to urgent technical issues during live broadcasts.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure minimal disruption to broadcasts in the event of technical failures.


Documentation, Reporting, & Cost Management

  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repairs performed on HVAC systems.
  • Make cost effective recommendations on ways to manage and maintain systems yearly
  • Generate reports on equipment status, repairs, and recommended improvements.
  • Document standard operating procedures and safety guidelines for HVAC systems.


Training and Collaboration

  • Provide training and guidance to engineers and drivers on HVAC system operations.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of systems within the broadcast mobile production trucks.
  • Create training documentation for teams to reference for ongoing training and troubleshooting.
  • Actively participate in Safety Committee meetings, contribute constructively to discussions, and provide input on safety-related matters.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in HVAC system design & maintenance, particularly in mobile unit environments, preferred
  • Expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC issues
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards, codes, and regulations related to HVAC systems
  • High proficiency in design programs (CAD, Autodesk, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Safety-minded at all times
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to emergencies
  • Communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years working professionally with HVAC Systems
  • Commercial design experience is highly preferred
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant certifications/experience preferred
  • Ability to travel at least 45% of working time


PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to walk or stand up to 8 hours at a time
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel on both knees, and climb stairs frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs. frequently
  • Ability to carry 50 lbs. a distance of 50 feet occasionally
  • Ability to pinch (10 lbs.) and grip (50 lbs.) related broadcast equipment
  • Must be able to maintain a position within a space 3.5 - 4 feet tall up to 1 minute occasionally
  • Ability to horizontally transfer 40 lbs. on a push-pull cart up to 50 feet
  • Ability to vertically transfer 50 lbs. on a push-pull system with upper extremities only from 4.5 6 feet
  • Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
