**Description**

**OBJECTIVE:** Inputs, monitors and reconciles merchandise (hardlines/building materials) and merchandise cost in inventory system to control inventory shrink and maximize gross profit dollars.

The pay range for this position is $13.00/hr - $20.00/hr depending on experience.

**INTENT OF JOB DESCRIPTION AND MODIFICATION:** This job description describes the duties and responsibilities, qualification requirements, physical demands, work environment, etc. for this job. NOTE: Typically the pay status of this position is hourly in a small yard and may be hourly in a medium yard. The complexity of the job and the experience required to perform the job determine the pay status.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** The following are the essential duties and responsibilities of the Job. Other duties may be assigned. Performance Appraisal (PA) measurements are noted in brackets [___].

1. Logs purchase orders in computerized inventory system to receive merchandise into Stock Status. Coordinates with management to ensure proper processing and pricing of merchandise. [PA: Actual quantity and cost of merchandise received and entered correctly.]

2. Produces tags for all merchandise including replacement cost changes to maximize store profits. [PA: Tags produced correctly in timely manner.]

3. Matches invoice to receiver and reconciles differences in cost, quantity, rounding, etc. Posts corrections to Stock Status or makes financial entry if applicable. Maintains filing system by job and/or vendor. [PA: Invoices worked and accurately reconciled on a daily basis.]

4. Monitors Stock Status Report and Negative Report. Investigates any discrepancies between merchandise column and stock status. [PA: Stock status balanced on a daily basis.]

5. Maintains inventory files to ensure FIFO accounting of merchandise. Informs General Manager of inventory file errors (mispriced, misreceived, missold, etc.) and reconciles with direction from General Manager. [PA: Inventory shrink goals met. Gross profit dollars maximized.]

6. Makes journal entries regarding credit due from vendors, and removes damaged merchandise from Stock Status, etc. [PA: Journal entries made correctly on a timely basis.]

7. Balances Accounts Payable and credits payable drawer. [PA: Balance items correctly on a daily basis.]

8. Conducts and logs schedule cycle counts. [PA: Accurate inventory counts.]

9. Runs end of month reports and ad hoc reports as basis for standardized and relays merchandise ordering and operational analysis. [PA: Timely preparation of reports.]

10. Provides general administrative support to Yard personnel and General Manager. [PA: Satisfactorily meet administrative needs.]

11. Attends and participates in all Company sponsored training programs as required. [PA: Satisfactory participation, retention and application of training program subjects.]

12. Performs any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned. [PA: Efficient completion of assigned duty, responsibility or task.]

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:** High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS:** Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other Associates of the organization.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:** Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

**REASONING ABILITY:** Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

**OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:** Good interpersonal, communications and Customer Service skills are required. Knowledge of building materials (especially hardlines) products and lumber is desirable. Ability to operate computer equipment and applicable programs is required.
