Title: Senior Accountant

Schedule: 8:00-4:30 Monday - Friday

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the accounting staff with payables and payroll, performing accounting duties, and assisting in the monthly closing process.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate reporting of monthly financial statements as well as reports to management for financial decision support
  • Prepare account analysis and will be heavily involved with the annual audit
  • Assist with the annual budget, cost report and disproportionate share reporting
  • Fixed asset management and reconciliation
  • Requires deep understanding of payroll and accounts payable and will work closely with the payroll specialist and accounts payable specialist
  • Strong analytical skills required to analyze the general ledger and postings, prepare and evaluate journal entries and perform full reconciliation of required balance sheet accounts
  • Daily cash reconciliation and bank reconciliations
  • Independently complete the monthly general ledger closing process
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The senior accountant interacts with many department leaders and employees
  • Exercise good judgement, problem solving, show initiative and be able to meet the goals and objectives of the position and team
  • Assist the Controller as needed and may be assigned special projects

Qualifications / Skills/ Experience:
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience -will consider the right candidate with equivalent years of experience
  • Strong hospital financial experience (preferred)
  • Supervisory experience (preferred) as directing the work of staff related to monthly and year-end close is required
  • Critical Access Hospital experience a plus
