DescriptionJOB TITLE: Boiler OperatorSHIFT: 1st, 2nd, 3rdREPORTS TO: Maintenance ManagerNumber of Openings: MultipleLocation: Greater OmahaWage: $33.50 to $49.50 per hourResponsibilities and Requirements:* Boiler Operator operates and maintains utility plant equipment and systems with minimal supervision; maintains several gas/propane fired firetube boilers equipped with electronic controls and associated auxiliary control equipment.* Must be able to inspect competently: all boiler controls, combustion equipment, water leveler regulation, steam regulators, safety devices, instruments, flow meters, feed pumps, gas regulators, automatic controls, and air regulators. Maintain constant observation of the meters, charts, gauges, water levels, and temperatures to ensure that all systems are functioning properly. Read and record temperatures, pressures, and operating data as required within a boiler plant.* Perform minor steam fitting, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and housekeeping of the boiler plant. Ability to interpret instructions, and specifications operating procedures: Maintain chemistry systems provided by others. Possess ability to verify operation and complete minor repairs on those systems. Perform adjustments and corrections to boilers based on recorded inspection date. Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.* Ability to troubleshoot minor controls issues.* Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.* Performs other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:* Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.* Works well independently and with others.* Good communication skills.* Organized with attention to detail.* Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:* Boiler operator with class 3 license from the city of OmahaPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* Prolonged periods of standing and walking.* Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.* Must be able to visually inspect machines.* Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Work Environment:* The environment that individuals will be working in can fluctuate. Employees will be required to stand for anywhere between 4 - 6 hours, sometimes on a platform. They will frequently have to push, pull or lift to 30 pounds and occasionally push, pull, or lift to 50 pounds. Sharp objects such as knives, hooks, steel, and saws are utilized to perform the duties listed herein. The noise level is often loud, and hearing protection must be worn at all times.
