OVERVIEW: The Senior Purchasing Specialist will support the Purchasing Manager in coordinating functions for the purchasing department.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Timely entering of orders and quotes within the company guidelines.
  • Efficiently source, quote and enter all orders and quotes and initiate and maintain all steps from time of request through delivery to the Distribution Centers
  • Responsible for ETA updates, Open Order Follow Up, Shipment Tracking, Price Updates, and for communications order changes
  • Ensure information for items and vendors are updated and this includes information such as costs/minimums/pack sizes/vendor information
  • Proactive review of open orders and expedition of shipments and inform our customers and sales reps of any changes to delivery expectations.
  • Ability to work with warehouse staff and assist in the reconciliation of incoming goods
  • Run MRP reports and place purchase orders with vendors accordingly
  • Timely and effective contribution to commitment of stock turn based on Company targets.
  • Supply detail on trends and make suggestions for slow moving items before they hit overstock status
  • Key role in reviewing all inventories and responsible for finding overstocks and imbalances in stocking levels and suggest solutions
  • issue PO s to Suppliers and Customer Invoices
  • Authorize payments to purchase orders for AP Dept.
  • Gather all necessary information about goods needed to support new programs, features, offers and ensure that sufficient inventory is on hand at time of launch and after
  • Take ownership of the supply chain for assigned vendors and goods and is the lead role in resolving issues and concerns
  • Active involvement with vendor development, including regular meetings, product changes, inventory and service concerns
  • Awareness of the products that they support and offer alternatives in time of supply shortages
  • Facilitates meetings with other departments to make sure that projects and timelines are met
  • Actively seek out solutions and make suggestions for improvements on Inventory Management methodology
  • Search for products and solutions through electronic/printed materials and suggest solutions for product and service requests
  • Assist Purchasing Manager with supervising team members


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior purchasing experience in a corporate environment required
  • College Degree Preferred
  • Manufacturing or wholesale/distribution industry experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, including pivot-tables and v-lookups
  • Good communication both written and verbal
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
